Sanitary Engineering Laboratory


The Sanitary Engineering Laboratory (SEL) (URL: of the School of Civil Engineering (NTUA) has been engaged, since 1981 in extensive research in the fields of water pollution control, water resources management, water quality & process modelling, ecosystems management, drinking water treatment, wastewater and sludge treatment, wastewater disposal and reuse, solid waste management, industrial wastes management and environmental impact assessment. SEL has gained large expertise in the field of water, wastewater and sludge management and has significant experience in the implementation of research projects, since it has completed successfully many European and National projects. Sanitary Engineering laboratory is accredited by Hellenic Accreditation System (E.SY.D) according to ISO 17025 for the determination of various pollutants (conventional and priority) in water, wastewater and sludge samples. SEL personnel consists of experienced academic staff, engineers, scientists, technicians, programmers and the laboratory is fully equipped with instruments suitable for the analysis of water, wastewater, sewage sludge and sediments.
